Imphal: The All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has said today that it would “resume the suspended agitation from April 24, 2023 as the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) authority has failed to materialise the agreed terms of the tripartite agreement.”
The tripartite agreement was signed between ATSUM, RIMS and Manipur state government on April 3, 2023, pertaining to:
(i) Cancelation of the RIMS notice dated 03-03-2023 for declaration of results for appointment to posts of LDC
(ii) Fresh declaration of LDC appointment results with reservation as SC(3%), ST(34%) and OBC 13%) within one week time and
(iii) to follow existing rules and DoPT guidelines in matters of all recruitment to Group C and Group D posts.
The ATSUM then added, “Further, while taking serious note of the additional backdoor appointment of 15 posts of LDC in the RIMS without proper reservation norms, the ATSUM also demands the nullification of the said backdoor appointments”.

According to the apex tribal student body of Manipur, a joint meeting of the ATSUM, its subordinate bodies and federating units was held on April 17, 2023, to discuss the matter and seek further action plan.
“Irked by the deliberate breach of tripartite agreement by the RIMS authority, the meeting resolved to resume suspended agitation from April 24, 2023, demanding befitting action against the erring RIMS authority and to implement the agreed terms of Memorandum of Agreement on April 3, 2023 signed between the RIMS, the ATSUM and the Manipur state government.
