The commission has urged the state government to issue notification for publication of draft of electoral rolls of the district councils of each constituencies on 14th September 2020 in order to enable the commission to conduct the election on time.
“However, the opinion of the state executives committee of the State Disaster Management Authority, Manipur may be taken into account regarding holding of election during this time of Covid-19 pandemic” said the commission.

The ADC election for the 6 hill districts Churachandpur, Chandel, Senapati, Sadar Hills, Tangmenglong and Ukhrul was to be held before June this year. However, the state Cabinet decided to defer it till November as the rainy season of June-July was considered unsuitable by the Hill Areas Committee (HAC).
