Bank Robbery attempt for Rs 5 Lakhs, Fails at Sangaiprou

In a rare and daring incident a man has been arrested inside a bank while he tried to rob the bank this morning.


The incident occurred around 10:30 am of September 6 at inside the Bank of Baroda, FCS Godown Branch, Sangaiprou, Imphal.

The arrested person is identified as Thongam Ringku (40), S/O Th Guneshore of Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai.

It is said that the person reportedly came to the bank and demanded Rs. 5 lakhs from the bank manager. When the manager refused, he whip out a pistol and threaten the bank staff and those who were inside the bank. He then locked the door and took Rs. 5 lakhs from the cashier.

However he was apprehended by the personnel of 32 battalion CRPF. Personnel of lamphel police rushed the spot and arrested him. Police recover One 9mm pistol and one Knife from his possession.
