The Bethel High School, Management Committee has strongly condemned the torturing of Peter Holkholal Mate (Educator), who is an assistant teacher of Bethel High School, Mission Veng, Moreh W/No. 2 with the Appointment No.BHS/T-47/DPC-2021.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the School Management Committee stated the below:
On that fateful day of 30th Dec.2023 he attended School Office for some paper works. While returning home he travelled from W/No.1 to Moreh bazar, (being unaware of the firing that took place near Laizon Turf Ground, junction, Moreh). He was arrested by Moreh Police Commando personnels at Moreh bazar.

After taking him to the Commando Complex he was interrogated where he revealed his identity possing no incriminate documents nor firearms, But all the more they charged him to be a cadre of KNA/UKLF/Village Volunter. After removing his clothes he was kicked, punched, thrashed and stamped with boot untill he felt unconscious. On regaining his consciousness he found himself clotheless, shivering with cold which was fuelled by the pain of multiple cuts and bruises all over his body.”

The Commondos took him by a vehicle upto Moreh Bazar (Dharamsala) and left him alone to die so that the matter be not known to the public. From there he walked and crawled and hardly managed to reach his home by himself at around 4:00 am. The Commando personals had snatched his mobile phone and a scooty.
He is now undergoing treatment at Lamka District Hospital. CT Scan result shows multiple cracks in the skull, Nostril cartilage, facial bone, jaw bone etc.

As such is the case, we, the School Management Committee (SMC), teaching and non-teaching staffs, parents and students strongly condemn the inhuman act of atrocities committed by the Moreh Police Commando personnels on such simple and devoted teacher by giving him third degree torture. Therefore, we ask the authority concerned (state govt.) to give justice to the victim by suspending the perpetrators at the earliest possible time. Else, parents and students body will launch a series of agitations.
