UKHRUL: The Meitei Heritage Society condemned the blast injuring two civilians caused by explosive devices in Saiton village, Bishnupur district under the jurisdiction of Phougakchao Ikhai police station on Monday (January 5).

According to the press release, Kuki militant armed groups are suspected behind the incident. It was also pointed out that such an attack occurring despite presence of Central Security Forces deployed in close proximity within the area “erodes public confidence and raises questions about deference, intent and accountability.”

Recalling the recent attack on the Meitei Internally Displaced Persons a day after their resettlement, the society emphasized on how such repeated acts of violence disrupts “rehabilitation efforts, and sabotage the fragile process of normalcy.”
