“It has been learnt that the Congress has secretly reached an agreement with ITLF and CoTU on a separate administration bill for the Kukis. It has now become suspicious that the grand old party has a connection with the narco terrorists infiltrated into Manipur,” K Sharatkumar, general secretary of BJP Manipur Pradesh, told a press meet at the state party office in Imphal.

He also said ITLF and CoTU are run by foreigners, and claimed that the Kuki-Zo group was in consentient to give 99 percent vote to the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls 2024 in Manipur.

Congress had won both the Lok Sabha seats in Manipur in the 2024 polls. Congress’ Angomcha Bimol Akoijam won by over 1.09 lakh votes over his nearest rival from the BJP Thounaojam Basant Kumar Singh in the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency, while Alfred Kanngam S Arthur won by over 85,000 votes against his nearest rival Kachui Timothy Zimik of the Naga People’s front (NPF).

“The Congress party has been raising the same demands put up by the Kukis. This shows nothing but the two sides have already in a tacit agreement,” Sharatkumar further said.
