BJP retains power in Kangpokpi AC as it loses in Saitu and Saikul AC

Kangpokpi: BJP candidate Nemcha Kipgen won the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election for the third consecutive term retaining the party’s power in Kangpokpi AC after securing 14412 votes out of 24804 valid votes as the party had a dramatic loss in 46-Saikul AC and 51-Saitu AC.

Nemcha Kipgen secured 14284 votes in EVM votes and 128 votes in Postal Ballot votes beating her nearest rival JDU Candidate Soshim Gurung with a margin of 5308 votes as the JDU candidate secured 9016 votes including 40 postal ballot votes.

There are 315 NOTA votes and 116 rejected votes while there are 3 tendered votes in 50-Kangpokpi AC.

Nemcha Kipgen had won the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election in MSCP ticket and the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election in BJP ticket.

In 46-Saikul Assembly Constituency, the newly recognized political party, the Kuki Peoples’ Alliance candidate Kimneo Haokip Hangshing won the election by securing 6710 votes including 55 postal ballot votes out of 26333 valid votes.

Her nearest rival is Kenn Raikhan, an Independent candidate who secured 5461 votes including 20 postal ballot votes.

Notably, the BJP candidate Yamthong Haokip could only manage to secure the fifth position by securing only 2667 votes including 33 postal ballot votes while Independent candidate Chungkhokai Doungel and JDU candidate Ch. Ajang Khongsai shared the third and fourth positions by securing 5107 votes and 4486 votes including 31 and 40 postal ballot votes respectively.

INC candidate Lhingkim Haokip secured the sixth position with 935 votes including 32 postal ballot votes while NPP candidate Seikholal Haokip is the seventh position holder with 645 votes including 8 postal ballot votes and RPI-A candidate Jamchinlen Lunkim secured the last spot with 322 votes including 2 postal ballot votes.

There are 103 NOTA and 137 rejected votes out of the total 26573 votes polled.

In 51-Saitu AC, former Minister Haokholet Kipgen, an independent candidate won the election by securing 12456 votes including 39 postal ballot votes beating his nearest rival BJP candidate Ngamthang Haokip who secured 9762 votes including 28 postal ballot votes with a margin of 2694 votes.

INC candidate Dr. Lamtinthang Haokip secured the third position with 7133 votes including 116 postal ballot votes while NPP candidate K. Lhouvum secured the fourth position with 6978 votes including 28 postal ballot votes.

While Independent candidate Th. Sanglou Maram secured the fifth position with 2924 votes including 7 postal ballot votes, JDU candidate L. Johny Gangmei secured the last spot with 164 votes including 10 postal ballot votes.

There are 95 NOTA and 129 rejected votes out of 39641 votes polled in Saitu AC.

The certificate of election to the winning candidates was handed over by the respective Returning Officer.
