IMPHAL, NOV 12: Amid mounting speculation over the formation of a popular government in Manipur, BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh, along with the party’s Northeast Coordinator Sambit Patra, arrived in Imphal on Wednesday.
Upon their arrival at Imphal Airport, the top BJP leaders were received by State BJP President A. Sharda Devi and several party workers.

Soon after landing, Santhosh and Patra headed straight to the party headquarters at Nityaipat Chuttek and held meetings with party MLAs, including former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.
The meeting was attended by all BJP MLAs, except the five from the Kuki community.
BJP leaders from Manipur who attended the meeting included Party President A. Sharda Devi, Speaker Th. Satyabrata, MLAs Sapam Ranjan, L. Susindro, Kh. Ibomcha, Th. Shyamkumar, Kh. Raghumani, Heikham Dingo, Kh. Joykishan, Karam Shyam, Th. Radheshyam, Y. Khemchand, P. Brojen, Usham Deben, Y. Radheshyam, Sapam Kunjakeshor, Th. Arunkumar, Th. Robindro, K. Robindro, Achhab Uddin, K. Govindas, RK Imo, L. Sushindro, Th. Basanta, S. Rajen, Sanasam Premchandra, Th. Biswajit, SS Olish, Dingalung Gangmei, and S. Kebi.
During their three-day visit, the senior BJP leaders are expected to hold a series of meetings with BJP office-bearers from both the hills and the valley, as well as other key stakeholders.
On Wednesday evening, Santhosh and Patra are scheduled to meet legislators of the BJP’s alliance partners, including members of the Naga People’s Front (NPF).

According to sources, the BJP central leaders will also visit Churachandpur district to meet Kuki MLAs.
Party insiders said BJP legislators are likely to raise the issue of forming a popular government during their discussions with the two visiting leaders. Reports suggest that internal consultations among the BJP MLAs are already underway to present a united stand on the matter.
