Blockades continue on Uripok-Kangchup road pressing govt to find missing teenagers

Imphal: Blocking of the Uripok-Kangchup road continued today while pressing the government to trace the missing teenagers.

No untoward incident was reported even as the road blockade severely hit the normal movement of all kinds of vehicles along the inter-district road.

Maibam Avinash (16) and Ningthoujam Anthony (19), both hailing from Akham Awang Leikai, went missing from the Sekmai area of Imphal West district bordering Kangpokpi district on November 5.

After their mobile phones were recovered from a place in Senapati district along NH-2 after crossing Kangpokpi district from the Imphal side on November 6, the police in Kangpokpi district and Senapati district have been conducting joint operations with the central security forces at various suspected places.

Students of Don Bosco High School Langjing in Imphal West district where one of the missing teenagers studies also staged a sit-in protest in front of their school campus to rescue their missing colleague.

Sixteen-year-old Maibam Avinash is a student of the school and preparing to appear for the class-X final exam due in the early part of next year.
