Two youths go missing under suspicious circumstances in violence-hit Manipur

Imphal: Two more youths including a schoolboy minor of class 10 have gone missing in violent-hit Manipur under suspicious circumstances, amid the prevailing murder mystery of two students. The missing boys are from Akham Awang Leikai under Lamshang Police Station, Imphal West District.

According to their families, the two boys went for a meeting at Sekmai in Imphal West District, riding a black colour Jawa Motor Cycle bearing registration Number MN01-AN-3387 on Sunday around 9 AM. When they failed to turn up till late afternoon, they called their mobile phones, but there was no response.

Subsequently, their families filed a missing report at Lamshang Police Station. Family members suspect involvement of armed Kuki miscreants in their missing and urged the government to take swift actions to locate them. They met with Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan and Titular King of Manipur and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba at Manipur Royal palace this afternoon and urged them to find their missing boys. They also plan to submit a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren. JAC has been formed in connection with their missing case.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage captured in Sekmai area shows them riding their bike towards Kanglatombi side.

According to police, their mobile phones have been traced near Senapati Oil pump but the boys remain missing till the time of filing this report. Personnel from Kangpokpi District Police, Assam Rifles and CRPF are carrying out search operations in suspected areas to find them.

Report of their bodies being found at Koubru Leikha which is going viral on social media is found to be false. On the other hand, a large number of womenfolk reportedly took out sit-meet on road at Gampiphai in Kangpokpi District in view of the ongoing search drives for the missing boys.
