Book launch: ‘This Is How We Disappear’ by Dr Emisenla Jamir

Kohima: A book of poems entitled ‘This is How We Disappear’ by Dr Emisenla Jamir was launched by Advisor of New & Renewable Energy, Information Technology & Communication, Science & Technology, government of Nagaland, Mmhonlumo Kikon at Conference Hall in Kohima College on Wednesday.

Dr Emisenla Jamir is a writer from Kohima. Her first collection of poems ‘Loneliness is an orange,’ was published by Barkweaver in 2018. Her short stories have also been published in the Zubaan anthology, The Many That I Am, 2019.

Literary critic and former HoD, English Department, KCK, D Kevileno Sakhrie, while speaking about the book, said that the book is refreshing, and that the author leads her readers to various complex of loss, memories, identities through her poems. Sakhrie also said that the author is subtle but speaks with clear, unapologetic words on feminine perspective.

Kikon, while addressing the gathering, said that there is a need to promote writings from the State, adding that there is a need to break away from the old traditions of living in isolation, and encourage and build various institutions which would enable the young people to think positively since reading is a powerful revolutionary act. Kikon also mentioned that institutions should try to make books reach every nook and corner of Nagaland.

Kikon then said that it is well crafted and seamlessly written and wished Dr Emisenla a wonderful success.
