In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of physical and mental wellbeing, BSF troops from the Sector Head Quarter (SHQ) from Tura took part in a ‘Freedom Run’ under the ‘Fit India’ movement as envisioned by the nation’s prime minister, Narendra Modi.

The event on Sunday is a part of the series that was commemorated on August 15 and will continue to October 2 this year.

Troops from the 55 BN and 75 BN from Dobasipara along with the 28 BN personnel from Prahari Nagar along with their families took part in the freedom run today.

A total of 350 people from Dobasipara and 125 from Prahari Nagar took part in the 10 kms run. The event also saw the participation of the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills District, Ram along with his wife, Pragya Singh take part in the run, which they completed in an impressive time of 57 mins.

The freedom run was flagged off by the DC and the DIG of BSF, Surjit Singh with the Superintendent of Police providing security and managing traffic for a smooth program.

“There was great enthusiasm and happiness on the faces of the participants. The benefits of the regular physical regimen were also highlighted on this occasion,” said a BSF release on the event.
