Business community in Nagaland launches indefinite agitation against taxation, intimidation by ‘Naga political group’

Dimapur: The business community in the Nagaland commercial hub, Dimapur, has begun their indefinite agitation since this morning by shutting down shops and other business establishments.

Under the banner of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), the business community is protesting against “relentless multiple taxation, intimidation and harassment” by various “Naga political groups”.

According to reports, around 30,000 business establishments in Dimapur district have been affected by the indefinite agitation.

Earlier, DCCI had cited unabated multiple taxation, intimidation, harassment and summons by various “Naga political groups (NPGs)”.

“Until and unless the state government assures safety for the business community, the agitation will continue” Omega Yepthomi, Convenor of Public Grievances Cell, DCCI said.
