IMPHAL/UKHRUL: A candlelight vigil was held at Kangla Gate in Imphal on Saturday evening demanding justice for the six Liangmai Naga brothers who were killed during the ongoing Manipur crisis. The programme was organised by the Justice for the Six Sons of Koubru United Committee under the aegis of the Joint Tribes Council (JTC).

Participants lit candles and observed the vigil with the message, “We Stand for Justice. We Stand for Truth. Their lives matter. Their families matter. We will not forget.”
Speaking to the media, Chingdinliu Panmei, president of the Rongmei Naga Luh Phuam (RNLP), said the vigil was organised to express solidarity with the families of the six Liangmei Naga victims. She stated that the bodies of the six brothers are still lying at the JNIMS mortuary and that the families will not claim them until their demands are fulfilled.
She said the community is waiting for justice and expressed disappointment over the government’s response to the incident. Alleging that the six brothers were killed and mutilated by “Kuki narco-terrorists,” Panmei said the indigenous communities are deeply distressed and dissatisfied with the developments.

Panmei further stated that a charter of demands has already been submitted to the authorities, along with the names of those allegedly involved in the incident. While acknowledging that the government had announced the arrest of some suspects, she said the community has not received any official written confirmation indicating whether those arrested are among the individuals named in their submitted list. She added that the protest will continue until their demands are fully met.
