Cash seized from Manipur-bound vehicle in Kohima

Kohima: Amid tight security and intense vigil while implementing election model code of conduct in Nagaland, the Static Surveillance Team (SST) under the Election Expenditure Monitoring (EEM) Cell has seized cash from a Manipur-bound vehicle on February, an official statement said today.

The official statement from the Kohima district administration informed that “the Static Surveillance Team (SST) under Election Expenditure Monitoring (EEM) Cell, Kohima district on February 4, 2023, has seized a cash amount of Rs. 2 lakh fifty thousand at Peducha in Kohima district of Nagaland from one Manipur-bound vehicle”. The statement, however, did not specify the vehicle and its occupants.

The statement further informed that the SST Team has handed over the seized amount to the concerned authority for further verification and necessary actions.

Meanwhile, Nagaland police said that from January 17 to January 31, the Police department had seized drugs and liquor worth Rs 21,82,00,938 (twenty one crores eighty two lakhs nine hundred and thirty eight).

According to the police, the department seized Rs 83,16,010 worth of IMFL, Rs 5,39,48,028 worth of narcotics and drugs, Rs 15,18,94,000 worth of “other contraband items”, Rs 50, 900 worth of arms, ammunition and explosives and Rs 39, 92,000 worth of “other seizures”.
