Imphal: Amid the uproars, a special team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is handling the case of two missing teenage students led by its director arrived in Imphal on Wednesday.
The CBI team led by special director Ajay Bhatnagar arrived at Imphal by a special flight. The team landed at Imphal airport around 2.30pm.
Sources said that the special team will review the progress of the investigation of the case of “kidnapping and killing” of two students who went missing on July 6 during camping in Imphal.
The CBI director, however, refused to disclose the purpose of their visit in strife-torn Manipur even as reporters insisted on his arrival at the airport.
Earlier, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh, on his Facebook, had informed the visit of the special team of the CBI led by its director.
The chief minister informed that the state government has been constantly in touch with Union Home minister Amit Shah to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
In light of the distressing news that emerged on Monday regarding the tragic demise of the missing students, the chief minister assured the people of the state that both the state and central governments are closely working together to nab the perpetrators.
