Similar to what Nagaland Police did in erecting first of a kind bamboo barricades in Dimapure last year, Churachandpur district Police on Tuesday erected bamboo barricades in Tuibong area.

“Taking opportunity of the strict lockdown, Churachandpur district Police on July 20 set up some bamboo barricades made by the hardworking VDFs and Constables led by TCP OC i/c James Vaiphei under the supervision of Shivanand Surve, IPS SP-CCP,” Churachandpur district Police said.

The bamboo barricades have been installed in heavy traffic area in Tuibong area and said similar barricades will be installed along the Tedim road if the initiative succeeds.

Churachandpur Police said that the initiative will “instill lane discipline and prevent accidents along the Teddim road,” and further appealed to “locals to make use of it and not to tamper or destroy it by reckless driving. Let us look at it as our own property and not just the Police property.”

Nagaland Police on October 27 handed over 40 bamboo barricades to Delhi Police as a goodwill gesture.
