Chakhesang Region of GPRN Reaffirms Commitment to Naga Sovereignty at Historic Meeting

Ukhrul: The Chakhesang Region of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim convened a long-awaited regional meeting on October 19, 2024, during which it unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming its commitment to the Naga cause and its loyalty to the collective leadership. They made a declaration which marks a renewed dedication to the ongoing pursuit of justice, peace, and sovereignty for the Naga people.

In a formal declaration issued at the conclusion of the meeting, the Chakhesang Region of GPRN expressed unwavering support for the Naga Unique History, consolidating the importance of preserving their heritage for future generations. The resolution stated that the region stands firm in its pledge to uphold the principles of the party and continue efforts toward realizing a sovereign Naga nation.

The declaration further highlighted the region’s backing of the Framework Agreement, which is viewed as a key step towards achieving a peaceful and just solution for the Naga people. The Framework Agreement has been a critical component in the peace negotiations between the Government of India and Naga representatives, aimed at resolving decades of political unrest and conflict in the region.

“We reaffirm our deep commitment to the cause of a Sovereign Naga Nation and vow to give our very best to achieve this cherished goal,” the declaration stated. The Chakhesang Region also expressed readiness to make any sacrifices necessary in the pursuit of their shared vision for the Naga people.

With this declaration, the Chakhesang Region has called for continued courage and unity among its people, further strengthening the ongoing struggle for Naga sovereignty. The regional meeting comes at a crucial juncture in the broader Naga peace process, with various Naga factions and the Indian government working towards a lasting resolution.
