The inaugural programme began with an invocation by Rev. Fr. James Kamei, followed by a welcome dance presented by Class 12 girls and a welcome address by Rev. Fr. Benjamin, principal of the school.
The chief guest hoisted the flag and declared the meet open. Students of Classes I to IV presented a drill display, while Tedailim & Co. presented a melody. Students of Classes V and VI performed aerobics, followed by a march past by four house contingents and a dance performance by Class 8 girls.
Addressing the gathering, Langthasa lauded the students for their talent and hard work. She said sports teaches that hard work matters more than talent and that there are no shortcuts to success.
“Everyone stands equal at the starting line; the one who has worked hardest finishes first,” she said, urging students to identify their strengths and pursue their chosen paths with honesty.

Doley said the march past reminded her of her school days in Assam, where she belonged to the Yellow House. Appreciating the students’ flawless performance, she also commended the teachers and principal for the school’s 100 per cent result in the Class 12 examination.
“Sports is essential for overall personality development. It teaches team spirit, discipline and dignity even in defeat,” she said, citing tennis legend Roger Federer as an example. She also assured the school of all possible support.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rev. Sr. Valley Rose Shaiza. The sports meet will continue until October 17.
