CHANDEL, November 5: The Chandel district administration has reviewed media monitoring mechanisms and election preparedness ahead of the forthcoming 2027 Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
A meeting of the District Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (DL-MCMC) was held on Thursday at the office of the deputy commissioner and district election officer (DC/DEO), Chandel, under the chairpersonship of DC/DEO Mamoni Doley, IAS.
The meeting discussed the committee’s roles and responsibilities in monitoring election-related media activities, certifying political advertisements and preventing paid news.

Emphasis was laid on monitoring political advertisements in print and electronic media, identifying suspected cases of paid news and ensuring compliance with the Election Commission of India’s guidelines and relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The committee also deliberated on mechanisms for media monitoring, advertisement certification and submission of daily reports to the concerned election authorities.
Following the DL-MCMC meeting, discussions were held with district nodal officers appointed for various election-related activities. The officers were briefed on their respective responsibilities, including manpower and training, material and transport management, computerisation and IT, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), law and order, electronic voting machine (EVM) management, Model Code of Conduct (MCC), expenditure monitoring, electoral rolls, media and social media management, and communication planning.

The DC/DEO stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned officers and timely execution of assigned responsibilities to ensure the smooth, transparent and efficient conduct of the 2027 Assembly election in Chandel district.
