Chandel, May 28: The 1st Tampi Village Area-Wise Volleyball League 2025 ended late Tuesday night with Valley Tampi crowned champion for both Men and Women category and walked away with the prizes.

In the final matches played on Tuesday night at the village ground, Valley Tampi defeated Tampi Rising Stars in the Men’s category taking the sets 3-2. The final scoresheet read 17-25, 25-5, 25-27, 25-22 and 15-12 in the final set.

In the women’s final, Valley Tampi defeated Upper Tampi taking the best of three sets 2-1 with the scoresheet reading 25-21, 21-25 and 25-10.

As for individual prizes, Sr. Kashingni was declared the Women’s best player, Dy. Khijila as best setter. In the men’s category, Hl. Bening was adjudged the best player, Nl. Beninghman best setter and Wng. Wangdam as the best spiker. Upper Tampi was declared the best women’s team with Upper Tampi was declared the best men’s team.

The night event began on May 20 with matches beginning at 5:00 PM. Seven men’s teams and four women’s teams from the village participated in the event.

The closing ceremony which began at 6:00 PM was attended as special invitees by Tampi Village Authority, Tampi Youth Club Executive Council, Tampi Sinnu Ruwl Executive Members Sng. Ngamlorhring, Manipur Police, Ckg and Hl. Newman, Social Worker.

Sr. Warthung McCoy, president of Tampi Youth Club thanked all the participants for their enthusiasm in the event. He said sports were important for one to be fit mentally and physically. He also thanked all the special invitees who willingly came and supported the event.
