The MLA then conveyed that the first round of vaccination is aimed at inoculating the healthcare workers on a priority basis considering the risk involved in their daily duties.

In the same way, MLA Khashim extended his appreciation for the services rendered by other frontline workers like the police, government servants and members of civil society in the battle against the virus.

On the day of the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, Ukhrul CMO Dr AS Kapangring became the first person to get first shot of Covishield vaccine followed by Dr Athing incharge of Ukhrul Covid Care Centre, TK Woodland and UDH Medical Superintendent Dr Reisangmi Raikhan in the presence of MLA Khashim, Ukhrul DC Joseph Pauline Kamson and Additional SP Ringthing Hongchui.

A total of 101 healthcare workers were selected for inoculation on the first day of the vaccination drive. However, some of beneficiaries reportedly gave it amiss due to certain reasons like medical conditions and breastfeeding.
