Churachandpur: 22 Acres of Illegal Poppy Cultivation Destroyed

CHURACHANDPUR: A combined team comprising of District Police Churachandpur, Forest Department/Churachandpur; 129 bn CRPF; 1st IRB Churachandpur; NAB Churachandpur and Executive Magistrate/Churachandpur destroyed approximately 22 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Churachandpur district, Manipur on Monday, police said.

The combined team launched a destruction drive of illegal poppy cultivation at Dampi area under Sangaikot police station jurisdiction and destroyed a total area of illegal poppy cultivation estimated to be approximately 22 acres. Three huts used by poppy farmers were also burned down during the operation to prevent further cultivation, police added.

Police further stated that no arrest was made during the operation as the cultivators are not known. 3 huts were burnt down during the operation to prevent further cultivation.
