Churachandpur: Body parts of victim exhumed after suspects in homicide case arrested

Churachandpur: A team of forensic experts and Churachandpur police in the presence of district magistrate on Monday exhumed the body of one M Gousuanlal alias M Lal Zou for examination in Churachandpur district.

According to police sources, the body of M Lal was dug out from the grave after two suspects were arrested in connection to the death case.

On the intervening night of August 13 and 14, the body of M Lal was found in a suspicious manner near Singngat cemetery while his Bolero skidding off the road and falling into a rivulet.

However, since his family did not suspect any foul play behind his death, he was laid to rest at Kamdou Veng cemetery.

Meanwhile, United Zou Organisation (UZO) smelled foul play since there were injury marks caused by sharp object in his back part of the head and lodged a written complaint at Singngat police station. Acting on the complaint, police initiated the investigation.

During the investigation, police found a prima facie evidence on the mobile phone of the deceased from the call detail records analysis, which led to the arrest of the main accused Chinminthang, 27, son of Khamzakap Manlun of Belpuan village under Singngat sub-division.

According to the confession statement of the accused revealed that the accused Chinminthang caused three blows using a firewood on the victim’s head at his residence at Belpuan village. With the help of his associates, they disposed the body near Singngat cemetery and staged it to look like a road accident.

So far, two suspected persons have arrested by the police and investigation are on to nab the other associates, it said.
