CM Biren Receives First Food Grains Consignment By Train From Punjab

IMPHAL, JULY 13: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today received the first food grains consignment by train from Punjab at Khongsang Railway Station, Noney district, Manipur.

The goods train which started its journey from Dhuri, Punjab, on July 6, carried 949 metric tonnes of rice in its 15 wagons.

Speaking at the reception programme, N. Biren Singh appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending the food grains to the state through railway, adding that trains carrying essential commodities had also arrived two times earlier. He continued that this is possible due to the commitment of the Prime Minister and the hard efforts of Railway officials, Food Corporation of India (FCI), security forces for the betterment of the people of the state.

Biren also expressed appreciation to the central paramilitary forces and Manipur police for their dedicated services in trying to bring the state towards normalcy and make the state peaceful “as before”. He also expressed happiness on seeing people coming forward to work at the railway station, stating that the people of the state have a work culture.

N. Biren then mentioned that the state government has been taking up measures to prevent shortage of essential commodities. He further said the state government has been able to render service to the people due to the commitment of the FCI, Railways, security forces and conviction of central government leaders.
