Ukhrul: CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh has informed the House that the Government will hand over the case related to the death of two individuals at Thawai Kuki village to the NIA for a thorough and impartial investigation.
Also, he promised to provide ex gratia to the bereaved families as per the government norms. The Government remains committed to ensuring justice, maintaining law and order, and upholding the rule of law in the state, he said.

As per the Litan police report, the bodies were found by a combined search team from the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Army around 8:30 AM in the Litan area. However, the identities of the individuals are yet to be known at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhiles, sources have reported that Kuki villagers have blocked the Imphal-Ukhrul route at Shangkai today.

It is important to note that there have been reports of intermittent gunfire between the Kuki and Naga groups in the area, especially after houses were burned in Litan. The situation escalated on Monday when over 20 Tangkhul Naga individuals were waylaid and held hostage, reportedly by Kuki groups at Shangkai. The hostages were released today.
