CM Rio inaugurates Nagaland Olympic Association office complex

Chekrovolü Swuro presented her "Archery World Cup Gold Medal (won at Shanghai, China in 2011)" to NOA to preserve and to motivate the upcoming youngsters. The medal will be kept inside "The Chekrovolu Hall of Motivation."

Kohima: The newly constructed office complex of Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) was inaugurated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on January 29 evening.

With the inauguration of the NOA office complex, another multiple halls have been inaugurated inside the NOA office complex under the prominent sports persons name of Lanu Toy, Talimeren and Chekrovolü Swuro. 

The inaugurated halls were named, The Lanu Toy Library, The Talimeren Conference Room and The Chekrovolu Hall of Motivation

Meanwhile, Chekrovolü Swuro presented her “Archery World Cup Gold Medal (won at Shanghai, China in 2011)” to NOA to preserve and to motivate the upcoming youngsters. The medal will be kept inside “The Chekrovolu Hall of Motivation.”

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister of Nagaland said the inauguration of NOA office complex is historic for the people of Nagaland. The NOA office complex is a six storeys building with all amenities and facilities for all sporting activities.

“We have hope in our youth and will continue to support,” said Rio and challenge the sports association to take challenge and produce sportperson who will be competable at any level, as of now NOA have affiliated with the Olympic association.

Nagaland is one of the oldest state in the northeast after Assam, but not in a position to host National game. To promote sports Nagaland is doing all possible ways to support, he therefore challenged the sportsperson to take up the challenge in sporting fields.

“Government of the day, we have full mind, we are concious that we have to develope sports,” the Chief Minister said and he challenged the yourh to take advantage of the government throught the facilities and also support coming from all India olympic federation and other association. He hope that Nagaland will change in sporting in a few year and will be visible to the country and hopefully even representing the country.

The guests of honour who delivered short speeches includes; Dr Narinder Druv Batra, president Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and president of IHF; Adille Sumariwala, vice president IOA & also president of AFI; Rajeev Mehta, secretary general, IOA; Er Lanu Toy, founding president of NOA; Chekrovolü Swuro, Arjuna Awardee & Olympian; Bhaichung Bhutia, Arjuna Awardee & former Indian football captain and Gaurav Gill, Arjuna Awardee & FIA Asia Pacific Rally Champion.

The Secretary General’s report was presented by Abu Metha.

The programme was led by Kuputo, joint secretary while invocation and dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev. Kedo Peseyie, Pastor, City Church, Kohima and the vote of thanks was pronounced by K. Kire, vice president.

Later, the chief minister unveiled the SAFF Cross Country Trophies, thereafter followed by a cultural and musical presentation by Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA) at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima.
