UKHRUL: Yumnam Khemchand, the Chief Minister of Manipur, has appealed for the safe and immediate release of civilians held captive along the Ukhrul–Imphal Road in the area under Litan Police Station.
Expressing profound concern over the situation, the Chief Minister urged those responsible to “uphold the highest traditions of humanity and ensure the safe and unconditional release of all the civilians at the earliest.” In a press statement, he said the government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and will take all necessary steps to book those responsible for what he described as a “cowardly act.”
Khemchand has directed senior police and administrative officials to coordinate immediate efforts to closely monitor the situation and secure the release of the civilians. He also appealed to all civil society organisations and stakeholders to help calm tensions and prevent further escalation.
The Chief Minister further warned that stringent action would be taken against anyone found responsible for unlawful acts and urged all parties to shun violence.

According to reports, at least 18 individuals who are currently being held captive have been identified. The victims include Sarimaya TS, Masakui Ahum, Reimi Ahum, Thoyao Ahum, Rinmaya Shimrah, Pemya Kashung, Ringyuilan Horam, Kokochan Machinao, Yaopeila Rumthao, KY Kahaola, RK Wormichon Vashum, Ringphami Shaiza, Phawuimi Mangkung, Ningtam Chithung, Soramong Ningshen, Horngamphy Ningshen, Yuichung Ramshang, and Thorprang Ningshen.
