Imphal: Manipur Kanba Khongchat (Save Manipur walk) rally is all set to be carried out on Friday, June 28, in Imphal. The rally will be held under the aegis of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI). For this, the committee has urged all sections of people in Manipur to come out and join the rally.

During the rally, slogans expressing people’s determination to safeguard Manipur’s integrity and voices against the “oppressive attitude of the Indian government” will be highlighted.

It will also seek rooting out “narco-terrorism and flushing out of narco-terrorists from the soil of Manipur, abrogation of the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with narco-terrorist groups, implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state, decisive actions to end the ongoing crisis”, the COCOMI said.

The rally will flag off from THAU Ground at Thangmeiband in Imphal West at 9 am and culminate at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

“The rally is organised to safeguard the territorial and administrative integrity of troubled Manipur”, a COCOMI leader said, while asserting that the state has been witnessing a prolonged ethnic crisis.

He also said the “narco-terrorists” are demanding a separate administration for Kukis to be carved out from the present territory of Manipur.
The COCOMI alleged that the Centre and the state government are deceiving the people by the way they are dealing with the crisis.

It also alleged that the government in Delhi treated the citizens of Manipur as second class citizens or not recognized as the citizens of India.

Meanwhile, the COCOMI invited all indigenous communities of the state to the rally while asserting it is the need of the hour to stand united for the protection of the state.
