IMPHAL: As the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) gears up for the rally on January 31, which “aims to put pressure on the government to protect Manipur and bring about normalcy, and foster peaceful coexistence of all communities”, the student wing of the committee appealed to all the educational institutions to participate in the rally and extend their supports.

In a press meet held on Tuesday in Imphal, the student wing – DESAM, AMSU, KSA, SUK and AIMS – said students are the most conscious section of the society and have the responsibility to raise their voices in every issue that affects the state.

Manipur has been experiencing a volatile situation since May 3, 2023, with ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities.

A few days ago, COCOMI leaderrs, while informing about the upcoming rally, demanded that the government stop “the proxy war” immediately. They also demanded that those displaced people (due to ethnic violence) should be resettled in their respective homes. The COCOMI leaders further demanded for the free movement of all along the highways.
