Ukhrul: Cases of viral conjunctivitis are reported at Ukhrul District. Dr Wonyao Kasar, Eye specialist of Ukhrul District Hospital informed today that conjunctivitis is also known as pink eye or eye flu, and a total of 4 persons were reported today at Ukhrul District Hospital. A total of 86 conjunctivitis cases have been reported at Ukhrul District Hospital beginning from the month of June till August 22, 2023.

Dr Wonyao Kasar also gave an added statement saying, “a 5 year old school going girl, one BRTF worker coming from Imphal and two adults came for check up on Tuesday at Ukhrul District Hospital and were confirmed with infection of conjunctivitis.”

Dr Thotreichon Juliana, District Surveillance Officer (DSO) of Ukhrul informed that “as per OPD register maintained in the Ukhrul District Hospital, a total of 34 cases were reported for conjunctivitis cases in the month of August, 23 cases reported in the month of July and 29 cases were reported in the month of June 2023.” Dr Thotreichan Juliana has appealed the people to consult doctors if they have Conjunctivitis or any eye infection and advised the school authority to isolate the students if there are any such cases in their respective schools in order to prevent the spread.
