According to an order issued by Tamenglong District Magistrate, Armstrong Pame IAS, late evening Wednesday, containment orders which was placed in Tamenglong ward no. 1 to 5 has been extended till May 26, effective from May 20, Order said.
Earlier, in view of increasing number of COVID positive cases in the district, containment orders was issued on May 12.
In the order which was issued today, it is mentioned that while carrying out contact tracing, some more COVID positives were found from within the containment zone. In addition, Medical department also has given their opinion that there is likely of increase in number of positive cases if containment order is lifted immediately before the completion of contact tracing.
The order also informed, while mentioning contact tracing will be extremely difficult if orders of containment zone is withdrawn as testing has to be carried out in most crowded place in the town, to enable effective contact tracing and to prevent spread of virus, it is inevitable to continue keeping Containment Order in effect.
