Covid-19 active cases rise in Manipur yet again

With new cases outnumbered recoveries in the last few days, COVID-19 active cases on the rise again in Manipur.

With positive cases of the disease receding in the last more than one month, the number of active cases had even gone down below 700-mark.

However, with positive cases outnumbering the recoveries in the last few days, the number of active cases of the disease rose to 790 again.

The state reported 55 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, taking the overall infection count in the state to 1,24,383.

The death toll also rose to 1,942 with one more patient succumbing to the viral disease in the last 24 hours.
The latest victim was from Imphal West district and the victim had the first dose of vaccine against COVID-19, the state Health department said, in its latest bulletin.

With 25 patients discharged upon recovery on Friday, the cumulative number of recovered cases in the state rose to 1,21,651. The recovery rate of the state stood at 97.80%.

There were 790 active cases in the state, out of which 61 of them were in home isolation.

The 55 new cases were detected upon testing of 1,907 samples in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate of the day was 2.9%.
The state has tested a total of 13,87,498 samples so far.

At 25, Imphal West district continued to share the maximum number of fresh cases, followed by Imphal East with 18 new cases.

Six of the remaining 14 districts of the state reported zero fresh cases while other districts reported new cases below five-mark.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the state so far rose to 20,40,295 with 7,135 more people being vaccinated on Thursday.

Of this cumulative number, 12,58,004 were first doses while the remaining 7,82,291 second doses, the Health department said.
