COVID-19 Active Cases Rise Slightly in Manipur

The number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur increased slightly as new infections continued to outnumber recoveries in the last few days.

The active cases, which declined below 700-mark, has once again crossed the mark as it has increased to 707 on Tuesday.

A total of 49 new cases reported on Tuesday took the COVID-19 infection count of the state to 1,24,186 while the death toll rose to 1,938 with one more succumbed to the viral disease in the last 24 hours.

Opposed to the 49 new cases, 40 patients were discharged on the day upon recovery, taking the recovery tally to 1,21,541. The recovery rate of the state was 97.87%.

The state Health department reported one death case due to the contagion in the last 24 hours. The victim hailed from Ukhrul district and had not vaccinated against COVID-19.

As many as 2,172 samples were tested for the contagion in the state in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate of the day was 2.3%.

Except in Imphal West and Imphal East districts, other 14 districts of the state reported zero new cases or below five-mark. Imphal West reported 22 new cases while 18 in Imphal East district.

Nine districts reported zero fresh cases while one case each reported in two districts, two cases each in two districts and three cases in one district.

Meanwhile, the total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state so far rose to 20,17,077 with 9,839 people being vaccinated on Monday.

Of these total, 12,54,557 were first doses while the remaining 7,62,520 second doses, the Health department said.
