COVID-19: Meghalaya records 61 recoveries

Meghalaya on Saturday recorded 61 recoveries from Covid-19, taking the total number of recoveries to 12,531.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed that those recovered from the viral infection include 26 from West Jaiñtia Hills district, 23 East Khasi Hills district, six West Garo Hills district, three South West Garo Hills district, two Ri Bhoi district and one in South Garo Hills district.

Thirty-two fresh cases were also detected with 21 in East Khasi Hills, four each West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills, two in Ri Bhoi and one in South Garo Hills.

Those tested positive also include six armed force/paramilitary force personnel, four returnees and eight high risk contacts.

So far, the state has detected a total of 13,221 COVID-19 cases out of which 557 are active cases, 12,531 recovered and 133 deaths.

Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 353 positive cases, West Jaiñtia Hills 86, Ri Bhoi 38, West Garo Hills 32, South West Garo Hills 11, East Garo Hills 11, East Jaiñtia Hills seven, South Garo Hills seven, West Khasi Hills five, North Garo Hills five and South West Khasi Hills two.

“Till date, swab samples of 2, 77,791 persons have been tested of which 2, 64,570 were found negative,” Dr War said.

There are 73,914 entrants from outside the state.
