Covid-19 vaccination advocacy meeting for community leaders was held at DRDA training hall, mini secretariat Ukhrul on Saturday.
The meeting was organised with the aim to better equip the community leaders about the vaccine and the many doubts and hesitancy that prevents the people to come out and get themselves vaccinated. The meeting gained momentum given the wide prevalence of delta variant in the state. State government has announced ten days total curfew in the state as part of preventive and precautionary measure to contain the spread of the virus.
Professor AK Brogen Singh, head of department, Community medicine RIMS and community engagement team in charge Dr. Jubilee Wahengbam attended as state health experts while Govind Salaam and Phizan Shimray participated as state facilitators.
The meeting focused on importance and effectiveness of the vaccines available in India and current status of vaccination, the meeting was attended by 44 -Ukhrul assembly constituency MLA Alfred Kanngam Arthur, Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS, deputy commissioner of Ukhrul, and communities leaders, among others.
The program was organised by State Health Society, NHM Manipur in collaboration with district administration and district health society Ukhrul.
It also addressed many doubts surrounding Covid-19 vaccination.
