Agartala: With no real issues left against the BJP-led government, CPI(M) is now trying to stir unrest in Tripura by pushing a false caste-based narrative. BJP leader, MDC Padmalochan Tripura, addressing a press conference at Pradesh BJP Karyalaya in Agartala on Saturday, slammed CPI(M) for attempting to disrupt the state’s peace, calling it a repeat of their divisive politics from the past.
Tripura Pradesh BJP General Secretary Bipin Debbarma and Pradesh BJP Media In-charge Sunit Sarkar were also present at the press conference.
Speaking to the media, Padmalochan Tripura accused CPI(M) of deliberately trying to exploit a statement made by Minister Ratan Lal Nath during a recent budget debate. “Our minister did not insult any caste or community. He merely pointed out that CPI(M) follows a specific political ideology, which he termed as the ‘caste of communists.’ However, CPI(M) is twisting his words to create unnecessary tensions,” he said.
The BJP leader further alleged that CPI(M) has been attempting to destabilize Tripura ever since losing power. “They have no strong issue against the BJP-led government. The state budget is a historic one, ensuring the welfare of the people, especially the indigenous communities. Yet, CPI(M) is resorting to cheap politics because they cannot tolerate Tripura’s progress,” he added.

MDC Tripura reminded the people that under the BJP government, special focus has been given to the welfare of the state’s 19 tribal communities. He emphasized that the BJP’s core principle is “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” and that the government is committed to development without discrimination.
Taking a stronger stance, he accused CPI(M) of trying to recreate the turmoil of the 1980s. “CPI(M) has a history of fueling unrest and dividing people. They ruled Tripura with terror for 25 years. Now, since they have no legitimate issue against us, they are playing the caste card to mislead people. But Tripura has moved on, and the people will not fall for their old tricks again,” he asserted.
“The CPI(M) is trying to catch fish in troubled waters. They have no real issues against the BJP-led government, so they are now using caste politics to disturb Tripura’s peace and harmony. We strongly oppose their divisive agenda,” he added.
Padmalochan Tripura also made it clear that the BJP does not engage in caste-based politics. “CPI(M) was the party that played caste politics for decades. The BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, believes in inclusive development. Our government has prioritized ADC development and the welfare of tribal and indigenous communities,” he stated.
He further said, “Our aim is to build a better Tripura, to transform this state into one of the best in India, and to take India to the global stage. But CPI(M) cannot tolerate this. They want to bring back the chaos of the 1980s. However, the people of Tripura will never allow it.”
He also reminded the people of the sacrifices made by BJP karyakartas to free Tripura from CPI(M)’s rule. “The BJP workers and supporters have given their blood to liberate this state from 25 years of CPI(M)’s oppressive rule. Because of their sacrifices, Tripura is now free from CPI(M)’s tyranny,” he said.

Condemning CPI(M) for its past, he said, “The people of Tripura suffered under CPI(M) for 25 years. They know that CPI(M) is an authoritarian and terror-driven party. This is why the state got rid of their rule. Now, in desperation, CPI(M) is trying to mislead the people. But Tripura has changed, and the people will not accept their conspiracy.”
“CPI(M) is the party of China’s agents, Pakistan’s sympathizers, and the merchants of division. Their conspiracy will never succeed in Tripura,” he further added.
Meanwhile, Padmalochan Tripura, asserting his identity as a Tiprasa, firmly stated, “As a Tiprasa myself, I can say with confidence that BJP does not insult any community or caste. If that were the case, why is CPI(M) even present in Tripura? The truth is that they have lost all credibility and are now trying to mislead the indigenous people with false narratives. But the Tiprasa people and the entire state will not fall into their trap.”
