IMPHAL, SEP 10: The District Magistrates of Imphal East and West has announced the immediate lifting of the curfew relaxation period initially set for today. In a new order issued today, the district administration has revoked the previous relaxation, which allowed movement from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The updated directive, effective from 11:00 AM today, reinstates the curfew restrictions across the district.

The prohibitory orders, originally issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Ngarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, have been in place since September 1, 2024, to restrict movement outside residences. The decision to lift the relaxation was made after considering the current situation and ensuring the safety and security of the public.

Despite the lifting of the general relaxation, individuals engaged in essential services are exempt from the curfew restrictions. This includes personnel from Health, Electricity, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Press & Electronic Media, and Court services, who will be allowed to continue their duties without interruption.
