Cyclone Sitrang slams Noney district, 20 houses affected

Noney: As many as 20 houses has been severely affected in Manipur’s Noney district after the Cyclone Sitrang made landfall on Monday night.

Residents of Puichi (Oktan) and Pungmon (Chingchen) village under Haochong sub-division in Noney district were severely hit due to continues rainfall and cyclonic storm.

The cyclonic storm has been reportedly ripped off the rooftops of many homes and granary, leaving the locals hapless. Moreover, the heavy rainfalls and strong winds and storm has damaged standing crops, including paddies, in the area.

However, no injuries or casualties were reported till the time of filing this report.

It may be mentioned that Cyclone Sitrang has claimed the lives of two women in Ukhrul district. The incident occurred on Monday evening. Ukhrul district which reported heavy downpour in the last couple of days as Cyclone Sitrang slammed the Northeast region, triggering flood in various areas, including Bangladesh. While filing this report the bodies of the two women were still not found.
