DC Ukhrul issues notification for National Highway Land Acquisition; Objection by any within 21 days

Ukhrul: Acting on the notification issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, New Delhi, published in Central Government Extraordinary Gazette No. 4953, New Delhi, on Thursday, December 23, 2021, Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul, who is also the competent authority for Land Acquisition, Ukhrul has notified any person interested in the said land to make their objections within 21 days from the date of publication of this notifications.

The notification issued on February 10 has notified that as per the notification vide no. S.O. 5344 (E) dated December 23, 2021 read, “PAUSA -2, 1943, it is hereby informed that, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3A of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government after being satisfied that for the public purpose, the land, the brief description of which are given in the Schedule (brief description of land to be acquired) annexed hereto, is required for building (widening /two lane with paved shoulder/ four laning. etc), maintenance, management and operation of NH 202 in the stretch of land from km. 0.00 to km 15 (Jessami – Akash Bridge) in the district of Ukhrul, in the state of Manipur, hereby declares its intention to acquire such land”.

It futher informed that any person interested in the said land may, within 21 days from the date of publication of this notifications, object to the use of such land for the aforesaid purpose under sub-section (1) of section 3A of the said Act.

Every such objection shall be made to the competent authority namely, Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul, in writing and shall set out the grounds thereof and the competent authority shall give the objectors an opportunity of being heard, either in person or by legal practitioner, and may, after hearing all such objections and after making such further enquiry, if any, as the competent authority thinks necessary, by order, either allow or disallow the objections, read the notification.

It continued that any order made by competent authority under sub-section (2) of section 3C of the said Act shall be final, it said, adding that the land plans and other details of land (with names of affected owners) to be acquired under the notifications are available and can be inspected by the interested persons at the offices of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Jessami, and DC, Ukhrul, Eastern Block, Mini Secretariat building.
