Delegation of National People’s Party meets Manipur Guv Anusuiya Uikey

Imphal: A political delegation of National People’s Party (NPP) led by its national vice president, Y. Joykumar Singh and two other national vice presidents namely Sonelal Kol and S.K. Sarkar along with Marcuise Marak, Meghalaya cabinet minister and Wailadmiki Shylla, MLA, Meghalaya, called on Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal today and expressed their concerns about the prevailing situation in Manipur which has resulted loss of lives, destruction of properties and displacement of thousands of people in many parts of the State.

The NPP team apprised of the plight of students from within and outside the State, the difficulty of the farmers who are unable to do their cultivation, economic blockade in National Highway 2 causing scarcity of essential commodities etc. to the Governor and requested her to take up appropriate steps to address these issues. 

They also informed the Governor that as a concerned political party, they are actively engaging with various stakeholders, appealing for peace and urging them to participate in dialogue and reconciliation efforts. The team also drew the attention of the Governor for taking up all possible steps to solve the present crisis.

The Governor heard their concerns and assured them that steps to control violence and efforts to ensure a congenial atmosphere for talks are on to bring the two communities to the negotiating table and once the talks are on, definitely, peace will come and there will be an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect which is the key to bring back normalcy as usual.
