Delhi-NCR Tangkhul Shimkhur Kazip (Family Gathering) 2023 held

New Delhi, October 2: In an effervescent celebration of love and togetherness, the annual Tangkhul Naga Society Delhi, Delhi-NCR Shimkhur kazip 2023 was held on Monday at Utsav Sadan, New Police Line, Kingsway Camp, Delhi.

The Kazip exuded the essence of living together in love and harmony with this year’s event themed “Ithumwui Leikashi khamashit-khamano Naongarali Chituntasa”, emphasising the importance of passing down the values of love and harmony to the younger generation.

Zacinta ZV Shimrah (IRS) Principal Commissioner, Income Tax Mumbai, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. With great humility, she testified to God’s grace in her life. The gathering brought together Tangkhul families living in Delhi in a joyous day of reconnection and celebration. As a way of honouring the Tangkhul Pukreilas and extending a memorable day akin to coming home, the Tangkhul Yorlas were also the special invitees to the event.

The one day programme was enlivened by a series of live musical renditions by numerous Tangkhul musicians and young singers in Delhi, Tangkhul Catholic Church elders, a dance performance, and a special number by the Yorlas. Somaya Rumthao, a renowned country singer, made a special appearance at the event.

This year, the Shimkhur Kazip saw an added layer of significance with the felicitation ceremony of the TNSD Julie Awungshi Meritorious Award. KG and Nursery children who began their first foundational steps to education in the academic year 2023 were felicitated to express the community love, support and prayer.

The gathering ended in a high spirit over a sumptuous feast featuring a variety of cuisines. A special feature of the dinner was the Tangkhul villages Kasatheinai (Chutni) potlucks by mothers that catered to every palate.

The Delhi Tangkhul Shimkhur Kazip is an annual event organised by the Tangkhul Naga Society Delhi to inculcate and re-enforce the Tangkhul’s well-nurtured tradition and ethos of togetherness and to celebrate shared values, memories and spirit of oneness that binds the Tangkhul community together.
