UKHRUL, SEP 4: Manipur director general of police Mukesh Singh, IPS, accompanied by ADGP (Law & Order) on Friday conducted a field visit to Leplen, Sinakeithei and Litan areas of Ukhrul district to assess the prevailing ground situation and review security arrangements.
The DGP, as per Manipur Police, held interactive sessions with field commanders of Manipur Police, 6th Manipur Rifles, Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police Force. He also met members of the village authorities and discussed their security concerns.

The visit comes amid continuing insecurity in the Litan–Sinakeithei belt following the February violence and months of intermittent armed confrontations that have repeatedly disrupted civilian life in the area.
Sinakeithei, home to more than 2,000 people, has been particularly affected, with repeated gunfire and attacks disrupting education, farming and other livelihoods, while the road connecting the village to NH-202 remains a major security concern.
As highlighted by Ukhrul Times in its recent editorial, the security situation in this belt has implications far beyond the immediate villages, with restrictions along a critical road corridor affecting access and mobility for a large number of Tangkhul Naga villages in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts. The DGP’s field visit is a welcome step. This stretch from Shangkai to Monkot Chepu, both Kuki villages, roughly 10–12 km between Litan and Mahadev corridor, requires a sustained security presence, close coordination among the deployed forces and continued engagement with local village authorities in both Naga and Kuki villages to ensure the safety and free movement of the civilian population.
