CHANDEL, AUG 28: More than 60 community members participated in an Awareness on Disability and UDID Assessment Camp organised at Chakpikarong Village Community Hall on Friday, with over 15 persons enrolling for UDID on the spot.
The programme was organised by the Child Development Centre (CDC), Chandel, and the Centre for Community Initiative (CCI) in collaboration with the Chakpikarong Youth Club, with support from SBI Foundation.

The camp sought to raise awareness about disability, the rights and entitlements of persons with disabilities, and the importance of obtaining a Unique Disability ID (UDID). Participants were also provided guidance on disability assessment, enrolment and access to support services.
Newry Tongsin, Centre In-charge, spoke about the Child Development Centre in Chandel, its services and facilities, while Morong Hongsha, Special Educator, attended as a resource person and interacted with the participants.
The CDC team highlighted the range of professional support available through its multidisciplinary services, including physiotherapy, psychology, special education and speech therapy.

TS Berek, Chief of the Anal Naga Chiefs’ Association Chakpikarong Subdivision (ANCACS), and LH Tangkhel, President of Chakpikarong Youth Club, were special guests at the programme and addressed the gathering.
The on-the-spot UDID enrolment was a key component of the camp, helping persons with disabilities and their families access the formal disability identification process and related government benefits.
