The District Magistrate in view of the increasing trends in the spread of COVID-19 infection prohibited the movement of any person outside of their respective residence from May 8 till May 17, 2021 imposing strict Curfew in Ukhrul District under Section 144 of the code of Criminal Procedure.

The curfew orders issued by Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS, passed Ex-Parte under Sub-section 2 of Section 144, Cr.P.C, 1973 directed to the general public, ordered for adoption of immediate preventive measures to strictly enforce the provisions of the ‘Manipur Epidemic Diseases, (Enforcement of COVID-19 Guidelines) Regulation 2020’ is required in Ukhrul District, it said.  

What is exempted

Agencies of the government department(s) involved in enforcement of law and order, Healthcare facilities including animal healthcare, Hospitals, Clinics, Nursing homes and movement of Healthcare works.

All pharmacies, including those selling veterinary medicines.

All persons going for COVID-19 vaccination, COVID testing and medical emergencies.

All employees and personal staff working in Media, Power, Fire Service, PHED, CAF&PD, Home, Health, Relief & Disaster Management, Police Departments and Police Administration.

Only goods vehicles, Oxygen supply related vehicles, LPG & Oil Tankers and vehicles of other essential services, water supply, waste/garbage clearance, public distribution system, medical/COVID services, Electronic and Print Media, internet and telecom service providers and vehicles of personal departments/organization permitted to be functional.

Petrol pumps and LPG outlets and movements of staffs of IOCL.

Hotels for lodging to remain open with minimum staff.

Any violation of the above orders will be liable of punishment as per notification issued by Home Department, Government of Manipur, with Sub-Divisional Magistrate as Incident Commanders along with District Police Officers will ensure, that the above orders is strictly enforced, Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS further stated.
