With the aim to contain further transmission of the virus to the villagers, the district magistrate of Ukhrul district has declared the whole village of Tusom CV under containment zone with immediate effect on Wednesday.
The village Covid positive patients stands at nine without any travel background.
The order was necessitated in view of
the rapid increase of Covid-19 and the impending pandemic at Tusom CV village.
Tusom CV village is located in extreme north of Ukhrul district under 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency.
Meanwhile, according to DSO Ukhrul, Ukhrul district reported 23 Covid-19 positive on Wednesday taking the total active tally to 86. While seven patients were discharged today.
Cumulative positive stands at 903 of which 541 are males and 362 are females. While cumulative death toll reached 23.
Meanwhile, as part of the containment measures, the DM Ukhrul has sealed, barred entry and exit of population from the Tusom CV village (containment area) and had directed to initiate active surveillance of Covid-19 cases.
Any person, institution and organisation found violating any of the above measures is deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the order stated.
On the Covid vaccination front till date, 22,303 eligible persons in the district have taken the jab. Of the total number of persons being administered, 17,545 have received the first dose while 4,758 have received two doses.
