Zomi Village Chiefs’ Association Boycotts Pherzawl District Administration

Ukhrul, March 5:  The Zomi Village Chiefs’ Association has declared a complete boycott of the Pherzawl District Administration in protest against the continued listing of the Thanlon Sub-Division, Thanlon Police Station, and 56-Thanlon (ST) Assembly constituency under its jurisdiction. The notice was issued demanding the immediate implementation of Government Gazette Order No. 337 of January 7, 2022, which re-allocated Thanlon Sub-division to the Churachandpur District.

“In view of this continuous disregard, the Zomi Chiefs’ Association hereby declares a complete boycott of the Pherzawl District Administration,” the press statement read.

The association has advised the village chiefs and the general public of Thanlon Sub-Division to refrain from participating in, cooperating with, or facilitating any program or activity organized by the Pherzawl District Administration. Also, it added that the boycott will last until all concerned departments are formally transferred to the Churachandpur District Administration or until it withdraws.

Additionally, in order to reaffirm the lawful and notified status of Thanlon Sub -division, the association has declared 08 March 2026 as “Implementation Affirmation Day” instructing all village chiefs to convene public meetings in their respective village,  reading out the Government Gazette Order and deliberating with the general pubic.

The association urges the concerned authority to implement immediately the Gazette order in letter and spirit,  including the transfer of all remaining departments and the correction of all official records, notifications, and representations.
