Combined with the right touch of professional expertise and moxie, Dr. Changmei’s Diet Clinic is all set to take on unhealthful modern lifestyle with tried and tested diet plans for everyone.
A first of its kind in Manipur, Dr. Changmei’s Diet Clinic with the motto ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Life’, has newly come up at Organic Outlet, Apex Cooperative Marketing Society Ltd at Khuman Lampak in Imphal, with a commitment to improve the community health in times of Coronavirus pandemic.
“I strongly feel that one can boost his or her immune system by consuming locally-grown natural foods. This could prove to be the greatest shield against Covid-19,” proprietor Dr. Changmei Shadang Ningshen stated during the launch of her new clinic in Imphal on Sunday.
Director State Social Welfare Ngangom Uttam Singh formally launched the clinic in a simple function in the presence of Managing Director (Apex Cooperative Marketing Society Ltd) Longcham Tony and Associate Pastor TBCI Ringyaoso Makan and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh highlighted the importance of such diet clinics in the contemporary society where people are more concerned about filling their stomach and not careful enough about the quality of food they consume on a daily basis.
He also noted that such a diet clinic could possibly look out for two groups of prospective clients. “One is the rich people who are well aware of the need for diet advice and the other poor people who don’t even know they need the services,” he said.
Reposing faith in the clinic in doing justice to both groups, Singh suggested: “Concerning the rich clients, give good service and take proper fees, while extending service to the poor people would be your service to mankind.”
Congratulating Dr. Changmei on the successful launch of the clinic, Tony exuded optimism that with a new clinic on the doorstep, many people who are at the end of their tether seeking a healthy life, would benefit from its services.
In her speech, Dr Changmei expressed her desire to connect and work with various NGOs, private and government agencies across hill districts in the state to improve the poor nutritional status of the common people, emphasising on the saying ‘Let thy food be thy medicine’.
Dr. Changmei revealed that she did her M. Sc, Ph.D. in the department of ‘Food Service Management & Dietetics, from Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore-Tamil Nadu. After her Ph.D, she worked as an Asst. Professor in the same department for the three years.
“But I realised a better calling, a commitment to serve for my community back home,” she recounted. She then resigned and left her lucrative job from the University and returned to her home town in 2019.
Soon, she joined YRP Tribal Agro Pvt Ltd, Ukhrul based company that works for the grassroots level farmers’ group in Ukhrul district, as a technical nutrition consultant.
“Having faced many challenges, finally launching of my own diet clinic is a dream come true for me to engage myself in serving the community in a bigger way,” she exclaimed!
