Dry run for COVID-19 vaccination successfully completed in Manipur

Dry run for COVID-19 vaccination was successfully completed in Manipur on Friday.

The mock drill was conducted at 236 centres in the remaining 14 districts of the state. The same was already conducted in Thoubal district and Imphal West district earlier.

Informing the successful conduct of the dry run for COVID-19 vaccination in the state, Manipur Health Service director, Dr K Rajo hoped that the vaccination programme in the state is likely to begin in the last week of the current month (January).

Addressing the weekly press briefing on COVID-19 today, the Health Service director said that as many as 246 health centres across the state where the COVID-19 vaccination programmes will be conducted have been identified. He also said that the dry run for COVID-19 vaccination was successfully completed in all the 16 districts of the state.

He further informed that the Union ministry has approved two COVID-19 vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin – after conducting several phases of testing.

Meanwhile, 48 fresh positive cases of COVID-19 were detected during the past 24 hours. These cases have pushed the overall COVID-19 infection tally of the state to 28,579 on Friday.

The total number of active cases in the state stood at 480 including 21 CAPF personnel as the recovered cases increased to 27,735 with 58 recoveries who were discharged on Friday, the daily update report of the state health department said. 

All the fresh cases were from the general populace and among them 36 were detected in Imphal West, four each in Imphal East and Thoubal, two in Tamenglong and one each in Tengnoupal and Noney.
The recovery rate of the state has improved to 97.04 %. 

No fresh COVID-19 death case reported during the past 24 hours and the death toll stood at 364, it added.
