Eastern christian high cchool (ECHS) Chingjaroi CV and Leisan high school selected in the 2nd Phase of School Fagathansi Mission of Manipur’s government in Ukhrul district.

The mission aims to provide infrastructure developments and other important facilities to the selected schools.

The frontal bodies of Chingjaroi CV has been appealing the concerned authorities of the state to improve the poor condition of this high school which has been facing acute shortage of teaching staff besides weaknesses in infrastructure fronts. Out of the 20 plus assigned teaching staff, only five reported for duty.

The inclusion of ECHS in the mission comes as a big relieve for the village. It is one of the oldest government high school in the district.

The youths of the village have been volunteering their service along with the few staff so that the learning environment of the student is not hampered for wants of teaching staff.

Development of infrastructure, civil works like repairing & renovation of class-rooms, construction of toilet blocks & additional class rooms, provision of dual desk and benches, and arrangement of posting of teachers etc. are the core areas the mission aims to provide to the 60 selected Government high school of the state.

Similar to last year, Covid pandemic has seriously impacted the learning environment of the students as all educational institutions remain closed since April 2021 amid spike in number of positive cases.

ECHS was established at Chingjaroi CV in Northern part of Ukhrul district in 1962 with the sole aim to provide quality education. Since its establishment, it has been providing education to poor and rich alike. Children from far flung and near got enrolled in this high school. Even children from Poumai villages from Senapati used to get enrolled here.

It was found that ECHS had produced quite a number of distinguished personalities in various fields.

Government school has been poor parents’ best option given the high cost involved in private schools. However, lack of adequate teaching staff made many parents reluctant to sent their ward to government school as they don’t want to jeopardise their formative years of schooling. It is here where they learn the basic. A strong foundation is the key towards a secure future.
